Lie

Lie

Like a hurricane the time will fly
But a viscous lie will refuse to die

Zeal will disappear, so will the cheer
Sadness will set in without any tear

In long term the graves will be dug
Things will haunt, conscience will bug

Trust will be breached, dignity will be lost
Pain will cripple and energies will exhaust

Heart will be murdered, friendship killed
Mind will question new bonds we build

How much ever the guilty may cry
The poisonous lie will refuse to die

Hi, THIS IS a version that I have made after a lot of editing. I have tried to keep da da DUM meter going throughout the villanelle. Let me know does it work well?
Villanelle means rhyme scheme aba in 1st 5 stanzas abaa in last stanza. 19 lines, 1st, 6th 12, 18 line same 3rd, 9, 15, 19 same;

Her wait

In her quest of elusive soul mate
As the quite precious time has gone by
It has been just a little too late

All enthusiasm turned so sedate.
For mean wily men had made her cry
In her quest of elusive soul mate

Was it fault of the tragic, ill fate?
Had she placed her principles high?
It has been just a little too late

She was fearful and restless in state
She allowed the chance to fly
In her quest of elusive soul mate

And today she is forty plus eight;
It’s a phase in time when dreams die
It has been just a little too late

Since the loneliness never was great
She reflects as the moment slips by
In her quest of elusive soul mate
It has been just a little too late

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Her wait (MY METER)

In her QUest of eLUSive soul MATE
The quite PREcious TIME has gone BY
It has BEEN just liTTle too LATE

All enTHUsiasm TURNed so seDATE.
For mean WIly men HAD made her CRY
In her QUest of eLUSive soul MATE

Was it FAUlt of the TRAgic, ill FATE?
Had she PLACed her PRINciples high?
It has BEEN just liTTle too LATE

She was FEARful and RESTless in STATE
She aLLOWed the CHANce to FLY
In her QUest of eLUSive soul MATE

And toDAY she is FORty plus EIGHT;
It’s a PHASE in TIME when dreamsDIE
It has BEEN just liTTle too LATE

Since the LONEliness NEver was GREAT
She refLECTS as the MOment slips BY
In her QUest of eLUSive soul MATE
It has BEEN just liTTle too LATE

I might have missed the meter in couple of lines and even used some more words to try and fit the meter..let me know how u feel

Her wait

Villanelles are a nightmare; there is no other way to say it. The form is originally French and didn't appear in English until the later 1800's. It is 19 lines long, but only uses two rhymes, while also repeating two lines throughout the poem. The first five stanzas are triplets, and the last stanza is a quatrain such that the rhyme scheme is as follows: "aba aba aba aba aba abaa." The tricky part is that the 1st and 3rd lines from the first stanza are alternately repeated such that the 1st line becomes the last line in the second stanza, and the 3rd line becomes the last line in the third stanza. The last two lines of the poem are lines 1 and 3 respectively, making a rhymed couplet. Confused? A villanelle needs no particulary meter or line length, so feel free to experiment with the form. It is terribly obsessive and can bring out the emotions of any neurotic writer
Her Wait
In quest of elusive soul mate
She has let dear time pass by
Has it become just too late?

Was it the fault of her sad fate?
Had she set her standards high?
In quest of elusive soul mate

With any man she couldn’t relate
Sly, mean men had made her cry
Has it become just too late?

She was in a sorry, fearful state
For she had made her chances fly
In quest of elusive soul mate

Today she has become forty eight;
A phase in time when the dreams die
Has it become just too late?

Being lonely was never great
She reflects as the clock ticks by
In quest of elusive soul mate
Has it become just too late?
