Hi, THIS IS a version that I have made after a lot of editing. I have tried to keep da da DUM meter going throughout the villanelle. Let me know does it work well?
Villanelle means rhyme scheme aba in 1st 5 stanzas abaa in last stanza. 19 lines, 1st, 6th 12, 18 line same 3rd, 9, 15, 19 same;

Her wait

In her quest of elusive soul mate
As the quite precious time has gone by
It has been just a little too late

All enthusiasm turned so sedate.
For mean wily men had made her cry
In her quest of elusive soul mate

Was it fault of the tragic, ill fate?
Had she placed her principles high?
It has been just a little too late

She was fearful and restless in state
She allowed the chance to fly
In her quest of elusive soul mate

And today she is forty plus eight;
It’s a phase in time when dreams die
It has been just a little too late

Since the loneliness never was great
She reflects as the moment slips by
In her quest of elusive soul mate
It has been just a little too late

I might have missed the meter in couple of lines and even used some more words to try and fit the meter..let me know how u feel
